Entrek folders?

Judging from the number of posts on this thread not a lot of people are interested in Entrek. I've noticed their ads in Tactical Knife magazine from time to time and have been intrigued by the description of their folders. I've just read the review of their Strike and Counterstrike folders in the latest edition of Tactical Knives and they seem to be exactly the kind of folders I like; large, no nonsense and tactical looking. The magazine's reviewer urges steel snobs not to dismiss the knives because they're made of 440C but I'm sure that's what a lot of people will do.
These Entrek folders remind me quite a bit of the Pohl Force folders which are also in the 4.5" blade range and also made of 440C.
I just wish there was a Canadian distributor for Entrek.

Liner thickness on them??

I can't find anything about it but at a 3/16" blade thick they better be mongo.

I have an Entrek Force Recon, a fixed blade. One thick and hefty blade, but the sheath was disappointing.

But now that you mentioned folders, I'll check that out.

Underestimating 440 C is ridiculous, in practical use its a mile better than S30V for 4 plus inch blades...

440 C is a classic steel. Entreks are hard use knives without the puffery of other name brands, Ray Ennis is a master.

Fit and finish on the Entrek Elk I had was = to the best I've seen.

Re 440C: Heat treat, heat treat, heat treat.

It takes marketing to break into the market and Ray doesn't seem to do much of that.
If Entrek is a small shop, it may not matter, as long as he sells everything he can make.

Hi Guys, Just a quick bit of information on the folders. This is my first attempt at a production folder. Since I like big knives I made em big. As for the handles. The right side has a 1/16" aluminum handle over a 1/16" SS liner lock. The left handle is 1/8" aluminum. The aluminum seems to be strong enough but only time will tell. I have made a few of these for people as i was developing them and i have had no complaints as to function. One thing you can remember is my warranty. "If this knife fails for any reason it will be repaired or replaced at the option of Entrek USA". If you can find a better warranty i want to see it. I do have one addendum specific to the folders. They are not designed to be disassembled and disassembly will void the warranty. With 37 years as a knifemaker and 19 as a gunsmith I have seen too many times that people take things apart wreck em then expect the maker to warranty them. I dont play that game. If you have any questions please e-mail me directly info@ennis-entrekusa.com Ray Ennis, Entrek USA

Any chance of a Canadian seller in the future? I'll probably get nabbed for duty if I buy a folder from you.

Larry, I read a lot about how ya'll get hit with a duty when ordering something from the US. What is the average price you have to pay as duty on a $100 valued knife? Is it less if a dealer marks the value as less, or as a gift, or as a camping tool? Thanks!:)

I'm sorry I can't answer your question with any real accuracy. The worst I was hit was when I ordered a knife from a Cold Steel close out sale. I think the knife was marked down from around $400 to around $ 150 so it was a good sale. If I remember correctly, the duty was about $35.00 so I guess I still did okay. I've bought a few knives from American forum members and I've never had to pay duty on those. I also traded knives with a guy in the states and we both marked our packages as camping tools and there was no problem. Probably duty is just charged on new items from dealers. Whether a dealer would be willing to mark the package incorrectly is an interesting question.
