I've done a search, and I've read some good, some bad, but none too specific. If you have like/dislike your entrek knife, please take the time to type your input here, as I'm very interested in one knife in particular: The Silhouette (the subhilt).

I want to know if this is the kind of knife that can handle double-dute (heavy duty worker and "fighter").

Your input is greatly appreciated.

I'm looking forward to seeing the replies on this thread, because I've had a craving for the Badger for a long time. The only things stopping me are the bead blast finish and the reportedly poor kydex sheaths. I know bead blast is cheap to do but I'd pay a few bucks extra for a satin finish. I don't need to worry about sentries seeing the flash of my blade as I sneak up on them for covert deanimation procedures.

Edges tend to run very thick, but being 440C they reprofile fairly easily and take a nice edge. The bead blast could be turned into satin with sandpaper and a few hours of work, if it makes enough difference to you. The fit of the scales to the tang has been very smooth and even on every one I've seen--they tend to be very comfortable if a tad small for my hands. The sheaths are nothing to brag about, but they retain the smaller knives well enough. All except the sheath for the neck knife, the Lynx---that one is inexplicably nicer than the entire rest of the line, better fitting and out of heavier material.

Anyway, very solid and nice working knives, especially if you thin the edges out a tad.

I've got 3, one of which I've had for over a decade. I agree that the sheaths are very utilitarian (even ugly), but the knives are tough customers that work well. I've beaten the living daylights out of my oldest (grubbing roots, prying apart rotten logs, sharpening stakes, etc.) and it's withstood all of it with warthog tough dignity.
