Entrek Knives?

Is anyone familiar with Entrek Knives? I am thinking of buying one but have no experience with them.

Thanks!

I had an entrek cobra that I traded a while ago. Used it to skin 2 deers without any problems. Got through both of them and was still decently sharp. Steel is 440c and they are a real good value. A lot of the models can be found for around 80-120. Never handled any of the really large models (Merk, Elk), but the only issue I ever had was with the kydex sheath, the knife wobbled inside and it didn't fit on any of my belts very well. Other than they make really nice knives that are reasonably priced.

I had a Elk. Massive knife. Little doubt anything could have destroyed it!Very well make. Ray makes a very good knife for the money.

Pretty much what these guys have said---there are better knives but for the money these are hard to beat. Ray tends to go for very abuse-ready edge geometry, you can thin the edges down a good bit from factory angles and improve their cutting ability greatly. The sheaths are, indeed, nothing to write home about, but On-Scene Tactical or somebody like that could make you a dandy for $25-$30, and your overall cost would still be a good deal for the rig you'd have.

Entrek hasn't got a huge following here, but what comments you'll find are generally positive.

I have to agree with JohnnyO, Ray makes a good knife for the money. I have the Destroyer and I am very happy with it. Only drawback is the sheath. I will get a custom one made soon. Very good value.

I have two Javalinas and a Huntsman. They are tough, tough stainless blades. Their edge holds up better than BM's 440c... don't hold an edge like 154cm but it is way tougher. The trade off between entrek's 440c (57-58hrc)and higher end, higher hardness steel (BM's 440c, 154cm is around 59-60hrc)is the edge rolls rather than chip... and I rather have the edge roll anyways.

If you check the entrek website, they cryo treat their blades. Trust me cryo treating makes a difference.
