Are they any good? I like the elk hunter alot but Im a bit worried about the quality, and the large blade. There I was just ready to buy a fallkniven and I decide to click on entrek USA in the list of companies and thought....... whoa, this is way cooler ;). when will the search for the perfect F.B ever be over?

here it is

i was lookin at them when i first started lookin for a fixed blade. 440c, micarta scales. then i researched all the fixed blades in all price ranges. ended up trying tops (1085, micarta) and busse (infi, micarta). the busse is definately my favorite! for the price point, tops is okay. i didn't go with entrek because i preferred a tool steel. i hear the heat treat for entrek is good.

The Entrek knives are definately worth it. The 440C that is used goes through a process that brings out the best in it has to offer. These are rugged knives. I have the Cobra and absolutely love this knife as it has a 4.0" clip point blade and is very useful. Even though it is .187" thick it still slices well enough to do what I need it for.

I don't think you can go wrong with the Entrek line! The Elk hunter has the 9.0" blade, correct? Depending on what you intend to do with it you might want to check out the Bison with a 7.0" blade.

Long story short, Entrek is a quality piece of cutlery!!

It has a 7 inch blade, the bison is 9 inches.
P.S doesnt a busse cost like $300? I would kill for one.:D

Busse knives are a bit more expensive than their equivalent in other brands, but considering what you get for the money - hand made, full tang, and of course infi steel. I reckon they're good value for what they are. Oh and a lifetime warranty too.

sorry i couldn't give you any more info on the entrek. i hear they do 440c very well. the only reason i mentioned the busse and tops is because i went with them instead. if i could do it again i would only get the busse. yes they are expensive. have you seen noss's destruction test videos on the busse fbm? watch it when you get a chance. a real eye opener! again, i've only read and heard good things about entrek knives. good luck on scoring your fixed blade. all the knives mentioned are good. do your research and then make a educated decision. cheers! (i need another drink!)

my javalina is a real workhorse, it may be too thick for some but i love it. find myself looking for reasons to use it every time i'm in the woods

I'm getting an Entrek Bison.

The reason?
Constructed in the U.S.A. with a passion (no shortcuts on any materials).
Good steel. 440C is low maintenance, holds an edge well, and should be tough enough for most jobs.
Well designed. The knife should work for S.D. as well as bushcraft.
Priced right. I could get something a little nicer for more money, but then I would be hesitant to use it. The easier it is to replace the knife the more willing I am to use it.

Now I just have to wait for it to get here.

Entrek is a great value for the money as most anything in their line can be had for less than $150. I have had the Badger, Ranger and the SubHilt all of them were great knives. Most of the bigger ones are 1/4" thick and tougher than hell. The Busse suggestions are great after getting one they are worth the money (but be wary as well, to get the one you want and the aftermarket places such as ebay see quite abit of price gauging, still a deal can be had you just have to take your time and hunt) and you would be hard pressed to destroy one. Ranger knives is another company whose quality and value are great, the RD7 and RD9 come bone stock as a great working tool. But one call to Justin (the owner) and suddenly for the price of an Entrek shipped you can the exact features you want on a knife with none you don't.

Hope this helps.
