Well, inspired by a Fellow Forumite, I ordered an ENZO O-1 Trapper kit from Ben's and finally got it put together. I finished the sheath for it just today.

This knife will be given to a retiring co-worker I've known for 23 years now. I hope he likes it!

If anybody's interested in putting one of these fine Scandi kits together, but maybe is hesitant because they think they lack the skill, let me know and I'll post a step-by-step on what I did and the tools I used. I assure you, these kits aren;t above anyone's skill level.

Stretch, I am sure he will treasure it. You did a really nice job.

That sure is a pretty looking blade.

Add:
Went and looked at the catalog.
Did you modify their standard sheath or is that something completely different?

Thanks for the kind comments, Knarfeng! The sheath is my creation, a relative copy of many I've done before. I just ordered the O-1 SCZ (Scandi ground to zero [no micro-bevel]) which comes with:
- the blade (very sharp), bead blasted,
- 2 curly birch handle slabs, pre-drilled, pre-shaped (relatively), with red vulcanite liners already glued on each slab,
- 2 sets of brass Corby(?) screws

No leather is included. That's sold alone or maybe in a different kit.

I'm looking at ordering another one, this time just the O-1 blade and screws. I'll add my own scales, maybe some mesquite burl, or I'll order some curly black ash from Texas Knife supply or somewhere. This thing is so nice (not my workmanship, it's just a high-quality kit!!!) I almost don;t want to give it away! ((( :D )))

Also, the blade comes pre-drilled for a lanyard hole. It's 1/4". The knife supply places sell vulcanite spacer material and 1/4" "thong hole" tubing. I think I'll add that when I do my kit. And.....I plan on photographing the entire process since there are a few glitches one (me) can run into.

I can;t talk this kit up enough. Very high quality.

That's pretty neat. I'd like to try a Scandi, but something niccer than a humble Mora. It would be fun to do a kit.

I seem to remember that you like convex edges. Did you convex this one or is it a regular edge?

Nice pictures.

Yes, I like them, but lately I've grown fond of the ground-to-zero Scandi edges. This one hasn;t been altered.
