Got myself an Enzo Trapper blank in O1 and went to splitting out some Hedge for the handles. Made some rookie mistakes and didn't notice (you will in the pictures) a hairline fracture in one side. I crossed my fingers and kept on working. Pretty aggravating, but it doesn't look like it goes clear through. Also, the dark rings around the corbys are in fact burn marks.
I used the E-Nep in the pics to rough out my boards, then put a semi flat side on them with my belt sander, finally surfaced them with sandpaper on a flat table top. Next I want to emulate a Martin sheath using a kydex insert with a leather exterior and because of the crack and the fact that this knife will probably skin some deer, I may have to polish the handles to help protect them. Right now all I've done is soak them in boiled linseed oil. I have seen people coat with super glue and then finish. What route would you guys suggest? Some pics I took along the way and the finished product.
