I got this is a Saturday night beer drinking project, and learned a bunch from it. One of the things is you can almost always fix/modify your screw-ups (prob. from the beer!).
Came as a Scandinavian grind knife, but when finish sanding the scales with my dremel I ended up flattening the blade right near the handle a good .75" or so. It would take forever to restore the original knife grind, so I decided to take it to belt sander and make a scandi-vex grind instead- still the height of the scandinavian grind, but I convexed it to blend the thick part. Works excellent and more durable than the original grind.
The left handle scale is Cocobolo wood, and the right is Desert Ironwood. Originally, both were Desert Ironwood, but I traced 2 right hand scales out, instead of a left and right. I figured Cocobolo is close enough, as both are dark, oily, hardwoods, and look close enough the same. Also, the knife blank has another hole in it at the back of the handle for a lanyard hole, that for some reason I decided not to put into the scales, that I now wish I did, for ease of pulling out of sheath.
Pics are hard to see it well, but I did some file work on the top of the spine (made a thumb traction groove) to cover up more sloppy Dremel work. It looks pretty sweet in person, but the pictures are hard to see it.
This is my 3rd leather sheath I have made, and spent a few bits of blood, sweat, and tears on it as well. Still need more tooling, but again, learned a bunch from it.
This was a fun Sat. night drinking project, and I learned a bunch from it. I will probably do another 1 or 2 of these Enzo blanks, and hopefully one will maintain the original scandi grind, but if not, this scand-vex I was forced to create seems to perform pretty well. I haven't tested it much yet, but it makes feather sticks pert good.

Thanks,
Dan
