Hey guys,
A short while ago, I bought an EOS Dorado S for what I believe to be a good price (less than half of what it costs at BHQ). I always liked the design, but I’ve never seen or held one before, so it was a gamble, but not a full price one.
The knife is very well built, and the action and centering are close to perfect. The quality of the material, the ball bearings, even the screws, and the finishing are all great.
Several things are still not sitting well with me though:
- There is not a single letter on the knife or blade about the steel (supposedly S90V) , or a “Made in the USA.” The only “MADE IN USA,” with a flag is on the box.
- The box looks and feels so cheep that makes a Spyderco’s look like a jewellery box. Also, there is no paperwork with it at all.
- The blade came so dull that you can barely use it as a butter knife.
That all said, I genuinely like the design, quality and action. Fidgeting with it is very satisfactory, and after sharpening it,whitch was not very easy, it works great. For the price I paid, I am happy with it.
Does anyone of you have any idea if this is my knife alone, or do all Dorados S come this way? It is always a possibility that I have a non-genuine knife, but I highly doubt it with the quality and the finishing. It just feels unfinished.
Thoughts?
