I finally got my first Emerson and love it. Seems very solid and feels great during use. I pulled the trigger on an EOTAC model and am looking for some info on it. I know that EOTAC was a clothing/gear company that closed down a few years ago and Emerson made a knife for them.

How many of these were made? Mine says '048' on the side of the wave am I'm wondering what that number's for. It looks like it has the same handle as a CQC13, but do any other models share the same blade shape? Lastly, what's the blade coated with?

Any and all info is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Congratulations on your first Emerson! It's a great one to start off with and a kind of hard to find model. The Eotac has the same handles as the CQC 10 and is nicknamed the Snake 10.

The number on the blade is the knife number made. "48" should be the 48th knife made that year. I can't tell you what the blade is coated with, maybe EmersonRep can pop up and shed more light on the Eotac model. I hope this helps a little.

Hey I recognize that knife!! I used to own it!

I'm not sure how many exist, there are black ones, tan ones, olive drab and the EOTAC camo. The number is the serial number on it! It has the handle of a 10, but the blade shape is known as the Snake blade, so it's technically a Snake 10. The only other model I know of with the snake blade shape are a few commanders. I believe the blade coating is Cerakote, I could be wrong.

I miss that blade, but enjoy it and use it in good health!!

It IS close to the Commander shape. I believe the solid colors (green, black) were Cerakote while the Camo design was a hydrographic. I'm not sure how many were made, my guess would be 100-150.

I emailed Emerson months back about production numbers. I was told under 200 were made in each variation. I have owned 3 black, tan and camo. Sold two but will never part with the camo .

That knife was also my first. I liked it but I think I would rather have a black one. I just didn't expect the G10 to be coated.

Thanks again for the deal! I guess it all worked out, I've always been a fan of knives with some color. With the hole opener and Commander-esque recurve it seemed like a good fit.

Any chance somebody has a photo of a Commander and and EOTAC together for a comparison shot?

The fact that it had color was one of the main reasons I bought it, but I expected it to have green G10 not black G10 with a green coating. That surprised me.

I don't want to sound as if I'm bashing the knife, I really did like it. If I ever find a black one I will gladly buy it.

I don't own the tan or black one anymore though. Traded for a camo EOTAC and a 99 Commander.

Saw one on ebay serial number 3 in LNIB condition so I bid on it, stayed around 150 until the last hour when it jumped all the way up to $450 and sold! Cool knife I've tried to acquire one many times just never worked out. If I got one I'd do the unthinkable and use it.
