Finally got around to giving my Large Sebenza 21 the Edge Pro Treatment.

15* per side and loves to slice! :D

Sorry for the blurry pics..

Funny thing is I have an old school L Sebenza (1994) with almost the same looking edge plus BB from CRK, wonder why he never put it into production. You can catch a peek in "Am I the only one thread".

Bringing this back from the dead.
Zippo, did the thumb stud get in the way?
I'm shopping around for a Seb and re-profile all my knives with the EP but usually remove the thumbstud and I don't think that's possible on the Sebenzas.
Thanks,
Russel

Zippo,

Really nice job on the reprofile. I also have an edgepro, but I struggle when it comes to creating an even bevel throughout the length of the blade. Although I can get it razor sharp and to a mirror finish, the bevel gradually increases in size towards the blade tip. I was wondering if you could provide a tip as to the method you used to achieve such a gorgeous even bezel.

thanks,

Kyle

You have to move the knife as you go, so that you are always abrading the edge at as close to 90* as possible. I dont know if that's how the OP did it, but that's how its usually done.

The design of the edge pro means that the bevel will be different widths along the blade. Think about it, the edge pro keeps a constant angle. The ONLY way for the bevel to stay 100% even is:

1. If the blade was one thickness throughout the entire length of the edge. (not very likely)
2. The angle changed accordingly with the change in thickness. (which the edge pro will not do, since it keeps a constant angle)

Most knives either get thicker or thinner near the tip, meaning that the width of the bevel will change. VERY few knives I have exhibit a consistent bevel. It it unavoidable with a system like the edge pro.

Ya I agree completely with this explanation, and to date it reflects the results I have been able to achieve. However, I have seen on many occassions pictures of other knives that have been "EP'd" that seem to have a more consistant bevel then the ones I have been creating. I am hoping that, as The Guide" suggested, that I will be able to create a more consitant bevel by rotating the knife so that the bevel is being hit at a 90% degree angle. This make sense to me.

Thanks to you both for responding.
