Epoxy for fillers in filework...etc

Hi, im kinda new to doing filwork. I am currently making a knife with a full tang, walnut scales, and filework on top of tang. I Just glued all together tonight, but i am wondering, does anybody know how i might go about sanding and finishing this epoxy to a satin or , well, any sort of decent finish?

Its 2 part epoxy from wal-mart, mixed with a bit of india ink.
