I am looking for a epoxe to use on hammer handles,
you can by it at the hardwear store but it is
expensive and a one time deal. Thought about using
Acra-Glass, has any one tryed it Gib

Gib, Accra-Glass is a lot stronger than most over the counter epoxys, is more shock resistant, and has a higher temperature rating before it fails. Some knifemakers use it on handles with great success.

Forget the epoxy. If you want the handle to stay on securely just do what the old time smiths did. After your initial seating, put the head of the hammer in a bucket of water and whack the end of the handle a few times with another hammer or piece of wood. It gets that sucker seated another 1/2 inch or more farther than you can get it on dry. Grind it off neat and smooth and wedge in the usual manner.
