I am wanting to thin some epoxy and try to fill the porous marrow area on some antler scales. Does anyone know of a way to thin this.
Maybe I should stay with superglue?

Thanks for any help.

David,
Acetone will work, but I've had much better luck with thin penetrating super glue. Tape up the ends and don't try to do it all at one time.

Use thin super glue, tape over one end, stand up and pour full and repeat till it gets full, may take a while but it works Gib

I never tryed this for antler, but to make
my mosaic pins, I heat (with airgun or air dryer)
my epoxy... That decrease the working
time, but the epoxy become very very thin...

Epoxy thined with Acetone seem to give a more
ruber like result... On the other hand , heated epoxy
seem to give a good bond, like normal epoxy...

The super glue will give a much harder finish. Epoxy thinned with acetone never quite gets real hard and would hold dirt or grit.

You can heat up the scales til hot to the touch and put the epoxy on. It will thin and soak into the porous area. If you mix in some sanding dust from the antler it will look somewhat better than plain epoxy. I haven't managed to get to be really white that way yet.
