Well I soaked this horn handle khuk in mineral oil and it clearly soaked up a lot of it but there's still a slight gap between the horn and the tang. So I was wondering what expoxy I should use for horn to fill in the slight gap? And if not, is the handle gonna crack right off the first time I use it?

Just my experience of course but horn nearly always cracks all to hell but never breaks. Wood cracks less but breaks more:rolleyes:

For small cracks I like to use superglue since it will get down into the crack deeper then a thick epoxy.

I must be lucky or blessed I have three horn handled knives and have not had any crack. Use superglue to make the repair for the reason mentioned above. If the crack is a little wide and your worried about fill use one of the superglue gels.

Is that a chiruwa (slab style) handle?
Very unlikely the horn will crack and fall off. It really is pretty tough stuff.

which one are you having problems with??? the AK or the siru???

i'm willing to bet that the problem is cosmetic and will not affect the performance of the blade.....i test all my blades when i get them, and the blades i sent you all passed the impact tests as described in the stickies.....fill the crack up with some epoxy so it looks better, but it will not break on you....

either way, i feel terrible that a blade is giving you grief....

Its the siru but it was just fine when it arrived and weeks after, but just now it seems there's a gap. I don't think its gonna be a problem either. If it didn't crack or break when you tested it I don't think its going to now.

Only one way to find out though, there is a few branches that need doing in in the back yard...:D
