Very old, very well made vintage hunting or fishing fillet knife. The knife has the original leather and tin sheath and very nice handle. The pummel has what appears to be a horses head. The blade Made in has a maker name that we cannot read. The knife is very sharp, and the sheath has some wear to the leather. Appears to be very old, we estimate mid 18th century to early 19th century. Approximately 6 3/8" long.

So they say it "appears" to be made between mid-1700's and early 1800's

Clearly marked IIsakki Jarvenpaa, a company formed in 1879 and of a souvenir style made in the early to mid-1900's for English-speaking areas.

How do you know they might be lying? There are words in the listing.

It could be an honest mistake. Lots of people think the 18th century means the 1800's.

They don't know the name of the biggest puukko maker in Finland but are ready to give an opinion about the age of the item. "Not sure about the name [FOR???], but the car appears to be made in the mid-18th to early 19th century. Very old."
