In short don't buy anything from Equinox!!
I had purchased the backpacker's version of their poncho with the extension in the back that would give me more coverage when wearing a backpack. The first time I had to use the poncho I took it out of my pack during a downpour that suddenly came up, I went to unsnap the little backpack extension and the snap ripped right out.
The poncho worked well to keep me dry, but at the price point and with the exclaimed "great warrenty" I dried off and repackaged the poncho when I got home and promptly email the company through their website customer service department. I included a description of the problem along with a picture. I never heard back from them, so I got the company's number from a local distributor and tried calling them. They told me that I had to take the issue up through the website customer service department. When I had explained that I had been unsuccessful with this route the guy on the phone really didn't seem to care and said that he only deals with distributors and couldn't help me.
So, I found out that their main plant is only an hour from my house, so the next time I was in that area I decided to stop by and try talking with someone in the business office. I was met at the door marked "office" by someone who said that they were only the manufacturing plant and they couldn't help me either and directed me to the website.
This overall experience was a huge disappointment for me since I purchased their product based on the fact that they used to have such a great reputation and that they are an American made product (right in my own back yard).
Now, I am still using this product because I was able to use a tent repair and a snap application tool to patch the poncho and apply new snaps. However, the whole situation left a bad taste in my mouth and I will never buy from this company again.
