I recently traded for this Large Sebenza with the Equipped to Survive markings. It is my understanding it was made in 2006 and was a limited run, but I do not know how limited. I am trying to put a value on it, but have not been able to find any like it that have sold in the last couple years, so I thought this would be the place to ask. Can anyone give me any additional information about this particular model and an estimate of what a fair value of it is in near mint condition, but no box or paperwork. It is marked C 06 on the inside. Thank you!

That's a clever design, I was looking for the "E" for East when I saw that the E is in the word Equipped.

Incredible knife.

You might email Doug Ritter about it, that's his outfit.
He might have had that made before he designed the "Ritter grip" for Benchmade.

If I remember right he always had one of those on him when he'd show his personal survival kit. It was before the Ritter Grip.

edit: Here's the specific info on the web site. Says 25 made. I think that's a combination of large and small, but not 100% clear.

This was a cool custom design that was made aprox. 5 years ago like you stated. I emailed the website that had them made up and asked if I could buy one and they said NO. I then asked if I had their permission for CRK to make me one up and they said NO as well. This is the first one I have seen since that time. I know only a small amount was made up, so it does make it quite rare. As for value, its tough to tell as not everyone would like the engraving, but those that do might be willing to spend a few extra sheckles on one. Great Score...!

Aside from the rarity that's a great Sebenza ,with the rarity that's a very cool Sebenza!

Congrats!

I tried to order one as well about 5 years ago or so, and was told they were out of stock. I think you have a great knife there with not too many being made.

That design made 5yrs ago? Nein! Older..that is for sure..I knew the person that actually engraved that and he has been out of CRK for at least 10yrs.

I stated in the original post that inside the scales it is marked C 06. I assumed that meant it was made in 2006 or slighly later? Are you saying it was made in 2002 or earlier?

Yes..that is exactly what I am saying..As a matter of fact, I have a practice slab that was used to set up the engraving on my desk..It will never leave my possession, but I work with the gent that engraved those..So I do have some insight as to timing of the EtS handles to some extent.

How do you have slabs marked C06 and say it was made in aprox. 2002....? Just curious....!!!

Unless they have done an additional run, then I have no idea. I normally won't comment on the markings as they have always been a mystery to me. I know that Jason engraved those before he left CRK as he was only part time at CRK. He and I worked together at the same full-time machining gig prior to 1999. I actually worked part time in the same building as CRK in the adjacent shop, but we both left the full time and moved on to better opportunities in 1999. I want to say that Jason and I left our part-time jobs in or about the same time frame, which was maybe 1997 or so.
Regardless- Unless there was one initial run on those of say one for Ritter, and they came back MUCH later and made an additional, limited run, those are much older than the original estimate. ( I could swear that he made or engraved several pieces. ) I could probably send him a message asking him how many he engraved if he is around today...Since working at CRK, Jason has gotten an engineering degree...Those guys like to take LOOOOONG weekends.. ( I must finish my engineering degree :)
