BIG BAD MONSTER ! I know this is not a good start, but thats all I could think of for my first impression. Appears very well made, finish is near perfect, lines on handles are very comfortable, lines on blade are very good.
Opening...a little harder than I expected with one hand, but within a few minutes, easy enough. Smooth opening, tight lock, with no play in any direction. This knife seems to be built for heavy work, no doubt, and heavy cutting, chopping ?, Yes, I think it would chop as good as a straight knife of equal size, for a while, just not sure how the pivot pin would hold up, but appears to be plenty strong.
Here is the only thing about the whole knife that I think could have been improved on out of box. I had heard a few other comments about this from others.....Not very sharp, but the angle might have to be changed to improve on this, and it is sharp enough to cut most things, but not shaving sharp like I am used to.
I think it is a big enough "brute" of a knife, that maybe did not need to be razor sharp, just sharp.
The knife grows on you after a while because of it's awsome size, and solid "click" when locked. It kind of reminds me of a good semi-auto pistol, in terms of size, looks (handles) and just the way it operates. It really does not seem like a regular tactical folder that I am used to.
I really like the knife, not sure exactly why yet, because I am still a bit dumbfounded by it's curious size and overall looks. It is almost a scary looking knife, and I mean scary in terms of "can and will do anything". It will probably be in my collection for a while, just because......I don't think I could stand to part with it for a while.
There is only one knife I have ever seen that could match it in size and overall quality, it is the discontinued SOG team leader. IMO.... :D

I'll second Robbie's comments. Massive and brute like construction!!

Extrema Ratio states this series was built to replace a fixed blade knife, well...I'll still take a Strider or Busse for true "tactical" work, but the MPC does make a great knife in the primary folder role, in that "tactical" scope of work. Or when a fixed blade is unavailable.

In that role, it may account for the grind angle and the less-then shaving sharpness of a new Benchmade or Microtech. I'm thinking more axe-like, less scalpel.

Lastly, price-wise...on the secondary market ER folders are a great deal!! They do not hold their value the way a SMF does, but they are a better bang for the dollar.

As always, my $.02.

And I like it even more today, I sure wish someone from ER would come on here and talk about these knives, or at least a company that sells them, we need some info. and discussion..... :D
