After I ordered the folding model, I got out the Ergo Hunter Build Out that I bought last year and noticed something unusual. It has the "Select" blade and the Avid handles and has "420HC" etched on the back side of the blade.

It's the only Buck I own that has an etch or stamp for 420HC. Were all the "Select" blades marked like that? Does anyone have any other model etched like that?

Never heard of one being etched with 420HC. That's pretty amazing. How do you come up with these?

Anyone ever tell you you buy too many knives?

:D

Thats a Pro handle isnt it- if so they must have felt like they had to do it so as not to risk misrepresentation.

No, it's the handle from the Avid model that has the 12C27M blade. The pro had the black and rosewood handle like the Folder Pro.

I wish that the folder Pro had the all rosewood handle like this on.

Here's the two Pro models.

I have used Buck Ergo Hunter Pro S30V Paul Bos Heat treated.
The best knife from others twenty Hi Tech knives I have used outdoor.

Thats not possible!

Thanks for the nice pics of the ergo Dave! I have never seen one up close and personal! I wish Buck would use that handle on the Pro model. That wood is awesome! I have never seen a Buck with 420HC etched on the blade myself....

The completely wooden handle is very well on this knife.
In Russia such handles are very popular because of strong frosts in the winter and because of knives"s traditions.

Hi Hawkeye5.
In Russia wooden handle is tradition of typical Russian knife.
In Russia the wooden handle of a knife is considered warm, because of strong colds in the winter.
It is understood as the wood is the best material for a knife handle.
I spoke not about the shape of handle but about the stuffs for a handle for all Russian professional knives, for big game and for fillet ( fish ) knife too.

Ego Hunter has the asymmetric shape of a handle in two planes.

Anybody else notice how cool, 20 years after the fact, civil and friendly our knife conversation is with someone who would have been considered the enemy is. Great to have you with us Igor, knives transcend political ideologies and break down walls.:D

You are right Fritz
When I was the young man, before reorganisation -"Perestroika", our teachers trained us that all Americans are capitalist sharks.:D
All Americans oppress Indians and Mexicans and the Afro-Americans and all other people.:D

My generation not so trusted it.
And now it is absolutely clear that it is not the truth, but it became possible only after Reorganization-"Perestroika" in Russia.
We have the same problems with terrorism as USA.
We have the same problems with economy as well as other big countries.

My opinion is: always good, pleasant people can to communicate freely on free and interesting themes .
Joint interests can break walls and ideological barriers.

Sorry for off-top.

Gary was never the enemy. The USSR was just the excuse used by the military/industrial complex to build up the military to 20 times the size it needed to be so rich people could get even richer.

Now the excuse has switched to having a "war on terror." It's the same bullshit all over again and we're going bankrupt from the close to FOUR BILLION dollars a DAY that whole Pakistan/Iraq/Afghanistan adventure is costing us.

When will we ever learn?

From Walt Kelley's old Pogo Comic Strip......"We have met the enemy and he is us."

(End Rant!)

To BG42EDGE
I m agree .
You are right DG42EDGE.
You have told very close to the truth of 100 %. I think you said complete 100% of truth.
We have got experience with Afganistan too.
USSR was Communistic also USSR wished to do all countries communistic too.

Well, if we hadn't had that insanely huge arms race......BOTH nations would now be prosperous and have stable economies able to help other less fortunate nations.......

Now.....America is deep in debt to China and rapidly becoming a second-class economic power.

People need to learn to mind their own business like Denmark, Sweden and Norway......happy people--not rich, just healthy, sane and comfortable.

We (in America) are coming to a point of no return and we better make some good decisions.

(End minor secondary rant!)
