Just picked up a couple Ergos and they have a few differences I was wondering about. Surprisingly the BM has a slightly narrower handle than the SH and has a polished spine while the SH has a black coated spine. Also, the rivets are different. Just curious, were there different releases of Ergos? Also, were these handground instead of on the CNC, explaining the differences in handle sizes? Just curious. Thanks in advance for your help.

no diff and no special runs, on all my ergos it was just the luck of the draw. i bought a couple of e-sh's from papathud and one had a polished spine and one did not. same thing with my e-no's and one was sterile and one was not. same with my badgers...

beats the hell out of me....

i do know the first time i spoke with the janitor he was drunk!

Luck of the draw? That's odd. I mean, I could see that if it was just like one difference, but so many differences is weird. Thanks for chiming in skunk and no, they are not for sale. Don't suppose you would have matching BA-E's and NO-E's so I could get a full set???

no, i'm keeping all my ergos, they just feel good to me.

seriously, i've been studying busse's for only four years but during the ergo era i would see several guys get their's and post pics and some were sterile and some not, some polished and some not.

also if you ordered one back then the wait was about six months!!

i usually had to get all mine on the secondary market.

nobody really cared as long as they could lay their hooves on one.

i do remember that most were sterile.

Thanks for the info skunk. The Ergos were what first got me interested in Busses but, I never took the plunge. When I did decide to start buying some, I didn't see any so I just grabbed what I could. Now that I'm catching em, I want to try and get a set going. Just odd seeing the variance in them. Anyway, thanks again skunk and this next drink is for you

i like the polished spine best because when batoning through something it would look nice and not have the possibilty of the coating chipping.

Be diligent in collecting a set, itll take awhile or alot of money but it can be done

I'm not in any hurry. Especially since I know its gonna take some cash with everyone wanting NO's and BA's lately. It's going to be a user set though, which may be in my favor since I won't need mint condition. Honestly, I'm really not even all that interested in the NO other than to make a full set. Damn I've got a buzz going.... back to fondling...excuse my ramblings... :o

It's taken about 2 years to gather these. I've added a couple more since this picture.

Eventually I'd like to find one of each of each

Some nice sets you guys have there  Thanks for posting em :D Another question... Does anyone know which is more common, the coated spines or the polished spines?...TGIF... Time for another drink

With the knives you have and with future ergos, which do you think you will use the most??

I'm not sure which I would use most. I would say for short hikes I would probably end up taking an SH-E and GW combo. For day hikes and camping I would take a BM-E and BA-E (assuming I can get one :o). The only one I don't think I would really end up using much is an NO-E. This is all drunken assumption of course as I only have half a set...Now where's Jimmy Beam at???

I don't know why, but they all are a little different. The ones that feel best in my hand are the last, the desert E's.

They seem to be more narrow up top, and have a better fit and finish.

To me this is a good thing. It says to me that they are constantly evaluating and improving, even within the same line.

Nice catch. I've to say that I've got also different rivets on my SFNO's. The one with the mag scales has smaller rivets then the one with the flat handles . . .
