Hi guys,

I posted a pic of my new 598 Folding Ergohunter Pro on the "whats the last knife you bought for yourself" thread and Flatlander asked for a review. So here it is. Now bear in mind I have only had this knife since Monday night so it hasnt seen anthing other than home and office use and this review is on the shape, feel and general appearance of the knife.

First off let me say that I thought, by the catalog pics, that this knife was larger. If you prefer a 112 to a 110 this should really be your cup of tea. I prefer the 110 and would love this knife even more if there was a 110 size(I have heard rumors that there might be) But even in the smaller size I love it.

The contrast of the brown dymondwood inlay with the checkered thermoplastic grip points and black rubber perimeter along with the satin finish of the S30V blade is a very eye popping look.

The knife is designed for right handed use and is convex on the right rear side to fit in your palm and concave on the rear left side for your finger tips

also notice the contour in front of both left and right side for fingergrooves
and grip points.

All these points are so well thought out and designed so that no matter what grip you use based on whether you would be gutting, skinning or stabbing:eek: the hand and fingers fit comfortably and securely
at the specific grip points.

I'm not sure how well these show the differnt grips as I was taking pics one-handed. But they are a general slicing grip, a pinch grip and a full grasp.

I had said at 1st that this knife is designe for right hand carry, and it is but dont let that discourage you southpaws because it fits comfortably in my left hand as well and would not be awkward in use.

Conclusion
This is a great knife:thumbup: I thought the skinner blade would make it less useful as a EDC knive but handling it for around the house and office chores completely eliminated that fear. As I said I havent used it for anything challenging but the S30V blade allows me to have complete confidence that I can. I highly recommend it:D

Hope thats what you were looking for Flat.:)

They are real comfortable-If you hold one you will own one. One thing I didnt do was give a comparison shot of size. I'll do that now.

Fritz,

Excellent Review!!!!!!!
I appreciate your effort. Sorry I missed it last month.
Now that you've had it for six weeks, have you had a chance to get it bloody? g

Thanks g, but unfortunately I have had it a little longer than 6 weeks:) and no blood yet. Only carried it one day of hunting in second season(after Christmas 2010 to end of Jan 2011).

My folding Ergohunter Pro and Boner Avid came today. Both are nifty knives. Now that I've held the folder in my hand I have to say Fritz was right on target. The boner has high potentional for kitchen work. I look forward to using them both.

They are nice knives,my only gripe is i'm left handed and don't like the idea of a knife thats made just for right handed folks,or if you need to hold with right hand and cut with the left,I just had these knives in my hand, not a good choice for lefties.LOL.I f I was right handed i'd own most of them.
