Eric,

At the risk of "no cheese for me"...

Since it looks like your starting firm orders, could we **please** get some labelled/captioned photos of the wakis and ideally more color combos up?

As it is now, in some cases all we have is the opinion of other Rats as to which colour/handle colour is which. I'm sure in many cases, maybe all cases they're correct, but it would be nice to know "officially" which colour is which before ordering.

Just captioning the existing photos would be really appreciated, though some more example combos would be massively helpful.

$400+ is a decent swedge of cash, specially since like a lot of other guys, I'd like more than one, but I'd really like to know for sure I'm choosing what I think I'm choosing.

I'd be up for another order if I could see some more color combos .. Eric, let the shop know it would probably benefit their biz to take some shots at the shop !! :D

There are a good # of them on the Blade threads. You have to identify them yourselves, but dang I'm color blind and can see most of the combos.

Yes, I'm really color blind. I put back a pair of pants in the store yesterday b/c I didn't know if they were gray or olive. I shoulda just manned up and asked, but I feel like a putz.

"What do you mean what color is that?"

"Ummm, I'm color blind. I have a hard time seeing greens."

"You really can't see that?"

"No. That's why I'm asking."

"Wow. Seriously?"

"Can you just tell me what flippin color these pants are?"

It happens EVERY time. I like to shop at Kohl's b/c they put the color on the tag. Unless it's some odd color like Sunburst Cloud or Light Midnight, I'm good to go. But I needed to go to . . . boy am I digressing. I'll just stop there. LOL

So in short I can send you any color and you won't know the difference ;)

:D:D

LOL

I can tell most times in person. On pix, with them little pixels? Notsomuch.

Back in college, during Gulf War I, they put up a yellow ribbon (made of plywood - ???) on the clocktower of the school library. I was on lower campus. It was about 1/4 mile away. I couldn't see the yellow in all that bright white. Too few inputs.

Color blind folk have too few color receptors, but more B&W/motion receptors. We see motion better (and have better reflexes) plus we see better in the dark. Also the reason many animals see in B&W - they are basically massively color-blind. So with so few yellow inputs in a sea of bright blue sky and very bright white clock-tower, the yellow just vanished to me.

But in person, I can tell you if a Waki is tan, sage, nasty-gray, tanker-gray or OD green. . . or moss or bama clay.

Hey Dennis,

Your sorta re-inforcing my argument for me.

You see, I'm not able to see the blades in person until they arrive, because I live in a different country on the other side of the globe in a different hemisphere - I'm close to about as far from the US as you can be, I think.

And what I have seen were a few photos, taken by people who may or may not know what white balance is (let alone used it), may or may not have a cast on their camera (admitedly my request won't deal with either of those).

And as you say the resolution can make it hard if its not a close-ish shot.

In addition the only people who have told me what colour say the thrid one on the left was, were people who one may or may not have known, might have been colour blind, might be malicious (not likely but possible) and might think they know, but are wrong and just making an honest mistake.

There's also the possibility that the photos are good reproductions and that every poster who has identified a colour has been right, but there's a lot of scope for error all the same.

So that second blade on the left that some one told me is black G10, but it might be black/green G10, and that might make a difference to me.

Just cos "you're alright jack", doesn't mean I am and I need to look out for me

If Eric/The Swamp don't want to post/for some reason can not at this point post extra pics, then that's fine, but it doesn't hurt to ask. And it's nice to know that in this case the request has been seen/acknowledged by Eric.

Now I'm 100% sure he is aware of the request, no matter how he/they choose to deal with it, which in itself makes me feel a tad better.

I don't mind looking like a putz when I'm putting down $900ish USD (plus rate of exchange factors) and others I know are gonna do the same and are also keen for the same info. $900 is nothing for some people and good uck to them, but it's a decent swedge for me.
In fact I'd feel like a putz if I didn't ask.

Don't want to sound all high horsey, but sometimes other people might have reasons for asking and they may not be reasons that are valid to you, but they might be to them - and usually they aren't harming anyone asking.

Conversely you aren't harming anyone putting your opinion forth and I accept that, but I don't think my request is unreasonable, else I wouldn't have asked.

Sage is my color of choice. No need for pics.

To be honest, the Waki could have been offered in pink on pink and I would still order one.

No problemo. I was just giving you a direction in case you missed it.

Here's another one, at least to give you an idea of blade-colors.

Altho I've yet to get a blade in person that EVER looked like a pic. (Except black.) The brown doesn't look like that. Close, but less grainy and more shiny to me. The sage is pretty close. The green doesn't look right either, but never seen it in person.

I'll stand by this: The snapshots from Blade, albeit small pix, are the best representation of the blade colors I've seen. These professional pix just absorb too much color and look artificial to me. I've got 3-4 custom-handled Ganza knives. Not ONE of them looks like the photo. Don't get me wrong, they are gorgeous, but far different than what I was expecting. Ditto for other non-Busse knives I bot from pix. I've got a Dozier in Maple Burl. You coulda fooled me on the pic. I like the knife far more than the pic, but dramatically different.

But good luck in any case. Maybe a few will be shipped and received before the orders are closed to allow people to see the combo's better.

what I did to decide my color combo was to go to ken lundes wallpaper page and look for the possible color combos listed and them imagine them in waki form. I went simple sage and black micarta.

Sage and black makes up quite a bit of my collection, you can't go wrong with it :thumbup:

Not sure yet if the sage/black or the tanker/black is going to be my go-to-Waki but I expect it to be one of those.
