"p. 149: Northeast Nepal, january 1977. danene, my first bhotia friend, with a large khoukouri nt his belt, contemplates the first snowflakes."

i havent seen the movie, though i'd like to. but i do have the book, wich is amazing. some of the most bueatiful weather hardened people on earth. i think "they have known more hard work then i will ever know in my life" every time i turn the page, and i am awed and inspired by it.

at 400 pages, 14.4 x 11.4 x 1.3 inches and 9.2 pounds. the thing is a tomb of photographs that are huge and on glossy paper. the photo presented is actually a photo of a photo, so the color and contrast rendition may be slightly off from what is found in the book. there are also shadows in it that arent in the book, do to the pages bending sligthly

Great pic Seth. Thanks for posting.

WOW! great picture, interesting how he is carrying the kukhri, and i note the well blunted brass scabbard chape!

Excelent stuff! Thankyou! That goes on my "to buy" list!

And yes life is so hard there for the majority. Many are happy if they & thier familys eat evryday.

Great people, beutiful country, but its hard.
