I just ordered a #511,and a #521 from ragweedforge.I had thought these were single bevel blades(chisel grind).They are not right?They are ground flat and then have a bevel on each side of the blade?
 
They are not chisel ground. The knives have a wide primary (main) bevel and may have a small secondary bevel if the primary is not ground right to the edge.

They are excellent knives for the low cost.
 
I had read so much about the Scandinavian grind and always assumed it was chisel ground.Since I had ordered these two I reckon I was gonna give it a chance!Then I read the sharpening instructions and it said to sharpen each side.Thanks again.
 
Willis..... you're going to really enjoy your new Mora. I convex a small secondary edge bevel on mine to add a little robustness (is that a word:confused: ) to the edge and they are razor sharp.

Great choice of knives, willis. :thumbup: I have a 510 and a 545. On the carbon steel 510, I got a really nice patina on the blade by soaking it in white vinegar for a couple of hours. That seems to offer a bit of corrosion resistance as well, although I keep a little oil on 'em all anyway. Man, they sure do take a nice edge.
 
I guess the best way to put it is that a scandi grind is like a chisel grind on both sides. I believe it would still be considered a single bevel because there is no smaller secondary bevel, basically one angle makes up the edge and not an angle ontop of another angle. I hope that kinda makes sense and anyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong about this.
BTW: I prefer scandi grinds to anything else, especially because it is easy to maintain the proper angle when sharpening.
 
When there is no secondary bevel it is often referred to as zero ground.
