does he make any of these? i was wondering because i've just read the illinois knife laws and they consider anybody carrying ANY kind of knife with a blade at least 3' as "armed with a dangerous weapon..", though don't comment on whether it's a misdemeanor or not.

Brother,

What you need is to aquire a CQC5. This wonderful custom knife will meet your requirement for a small bladed Emerson knife.

The bad news is that they are very expensive ~$1800ish and the queue starts behind me and a number of other people on this forum!!

Best of luck.

I've got a CQC5 and I agree with this entirely.

Now, if we could just get Ernie to make a production CQC5, there would be a lot of knives sold !

Ernie also made the Viper-2 which is a smaller version of the Viper-1. It is however a very rare Emerson.

As the number of jurisdictions where 3" seems to be the "legal limit" (No length limit on the books in Canada hahahah!!!) increases, companies will have no choice but to produce more 3" or less folders, or lose business.

I predict a 3" production Emerson folder of some sort within a year. I'd love it to be a plain-edged, bolstered CQC5, and would order one immediately if they became available. Of course, Emerson doesn't really seem too interested in customer choices so don't hold your breath...

Now there's a good question, what would people pay?

I'll open the bidding, if we assume first of all that the 'production' CQC5 is built along the same lines as the CQC7, then I suggest a similar sort of price as the CQC7.

Anyone got any other thoughts ?

I know I'm still on the hook for several 5's if they become prodo knives, but I'm not losing any sleep over it. I think the lines established; there'll be one new knife for next year; and, they'll continue to make these limited edition types like the SOCFK for good guy distributors.

The surprise to me is that the fixed blade line hasn't been made to copy the customs. Its much easier to tool up for, quality control is easier too. And, if you're going to just re-cycle old designs, why not do the ones that are least duplicated in the marketplace?

I'm buying if I'm wrong - what do I get if I'm right?

LMFAO

Jbravo, I wouldn't hold you to it. I'd just be happy to be able to buy my own production five.

I too would like to see a more agressive fixed blade line.

John
