The impliment on the left is a crab cracker used to shell and eat crab.

What you need to do is contact your favorite custom knife maker about making you a custom nut cracker. I'm thinking Damascus with mother of pearl grips.

Esav, those electric ones take all the challenge away !! BTW did you ever see how they get the nuts from the tree ? They use a huge machine that grabs the trunk of the tree and shakes the nuts down !

Seriously, all this talk of nut-crackers is reminding me of my ex-fiance. Brings tears to my eyes. Tears of pain.

Crack 'em with your hands like Jackie Chan in "Drunken Master"!

brookstone had a cool twistie one but i cant speak for how well it works.
btw, those inertia ones look very cool.

You may try using a Victorinox SAK with file and can opener.

Look around for a crack or opening in the shell, maybe at the tip, if there is none then file down the shell a bit to make an opening, stick in the blade of the can opener and pry it open, you may use the small screwdriver bit or the beveled section of the blade or the pointy end of the beveled section, whichever is handy.

Regular "beak" style can openers as in boy scout folders also work but they lack the file.

Vise grips do work well, nicely adjustable. I have been known to use channel-locks as well.

The best nut cracker is called "The Rocket". Easy to do, there are knockoffs that are NOT what you want because they are less expensive. Try Ace Hardware or True Value Hardware. Crack those nuts with ease and success. :) Cavelady

Can't you just use your hands? Pinch two together, its easy.'
Could also use the handles of a multi-tool if your a wimp ;)

I like to use the iron palm technique: Lay nut on table, strike with palm, shake palm vigorously to alleviate pain. :D If you hit the nut just right, you get a cracked shell, no pain. :)

I sometimes crack walnuts by crushing two pieces against each other in the palm of my hand, although I WILL attempt crushing one piece.
