This ambitious was really rough opening, loosening the pivot screw made no difference, behold the culprit.... :eek:

Gonna see if spyderco will just send me new washers instead of having to send the knife back and forth.

Kinda bummed, I was planning on gifting this one to a family member this weekend, oh well.
 
That's not good. Can you pound 'em flat again? If not, I hope they get you some new ones.
 
I'm sure if you call customer service they will send you new ones. I mean they are just washers.
 
A few lemons always come through- no quality control is perfect (maybe CRK and Moki :P) just e-mail Spyderco and they will sort you out. :)
 
DaPro, yes - let us know how things turn out. The Ambitious was to be my next purchase in the series (have Tenacious and Persistence - both excellent!)

I sent them an email, but haven't heard back yet....I will keep you updated.

It feels great in the hand, I was worried it would feel too small seeing as the persistence was right on the border of too small, but its great.
 
Maybe it's just the photo but it looks to me like the steel liner might have some hairline cracks in it. I'm talking about right in the hole of the washer (on the left side) in the first photo.

I just double checked for a crack, nothing there....I think it might be lint of something in the oil, but its gone now.
 
Can't beat a personal phone call....although disassembling the knife voids the warranty, and since they only keep clips and screws on hand for the china line, Charlynn is going to see if she can find some washers that will work, or see if she can find another return and pull the washers.

I received the new washers in the Mail yesterday, can't beat the rush shipping, also in the package was the new catalog I haven't received yet.

I just finished installing them, and the knife is very smooth now, one heck of a stiff liner lock.
