How do the serrations perform? Are they the wavy..rollypolly kind kabar uses? I cant sharpen those..i dont like em'.

He's talking about the new BK14SG. If you don't want serrations then just get the plain edge BK14.

Haven't seen a BK14SG in person but Knifecenter has them.

Hope this super-zoomed image answers the question ...

Yep there is one with serrations. As to how they preform... I have no idea :D Buy one and tell us!

I'm not really a fan of serrations... But if I had money in the budget I'd pick one up and turn it into a recurve :D

for my money, the only use for serrations is for stripping wire, in which case you only need ONE rather than to ruin half a blade with 'em.

On the other hand, for people who are unwilling to learn to sharpen or who like to bash their edge against ceramics, glass, and rock, they're a great thing.

As far as serrations go I really like KA-BAR's, they slice more than rip or saw. And as far as sharpening them goes I think they are pretty easy to do cause you can use a corner of a stone, a ceramic type system like a crock stick works well, and I've even had good luck on my ken onion work sharp. Since they are scalloped type serrations you can almost sharpen them like a straight edge. Just use something fine and adjust your angle as needed. I'm not a fan of serrations either but if I had to choose some it would be KA-BAR's.

I don't think I would have a use for this but I'll be darned if it doesn't look cool...

And if I could afford it, supporting Ethan and his knives and Kabar is always a good thing.

Get the much more appreciated 11.

I love my 14 but have pretty much stopped carrying it since I got my 24. Both are fantastic but the 24 is just a little bit better in edge retention and a lot better in rust resistance.

Thanks for the heads up. I grabbed one for kayaking.

Serrations are excellent. I also like the tan sheath.
