ESEE 3 and RAT 3

Likely they are not the same . If the name Rowan appears on your knife than yours is the same as the newer ESEE knives. Otherwise yours is the Ontario knives version, while considered lesser is still a fine knife.

I believe this is correct. The Rowan name is a key.

As I understand it (and that's always subject to correction), at one time, Ontario made the knives marked Rowan. At some point, there was a split. ESEE was formed as a separate company to make the knives they designed. Ontario continues making the ones they were making in the beginning (the RAT models).

Dale.....

You’re running on overdrive this morning because you’re getting ahead of yourself.....

Substitute RAT Cutlery, Randall Adventure Training or anything else for the word Rowen...

Rowen is the manufacturing company for Esee knives...otherwise your all good

 That's why I added the "subject to correction" qualifier. Thanks for setting everything straight. I believe all this happened before I was familiar with RAT & ESEE, so I came to it a bit late and probably didn't get all the facts.

Both brands seem to have a lot of followers and I can speak well of the ESEE models that I've had. Still have a couple of Izulas that are good performers for me.

Cheers, mate! :)

So I wanted a new Sheath for my Rat 3,A Scout Style,So I ordered a Blade Tech Tek Lok Unit.So far so good,Price was right.Happy so far.

I've had both. They are very similar, but the Esee 3 is a slight improvement and upgrade. Better handle ergos, slightly longer blade, more generous finger choil, more precisely ground, fit, and finished. It's better.
