So I got a $50 gift cart to amazon. I can use it and get a bk16 for about $20 extra or an esee 3 for $50 extra. Both are major deals for the cash I would spend and both fit into my preferences for outdoor work. Heres the thing...i already have an incredible handmade jk knife with a 4.5 inch blade. Is the esee worth that extra cash? Or are there other knives I should consider that I could use the gift card on? Any info would help. Thanks fellas.

The ESEE is worth the extra cash. It comes with a better sheath and micharta scales and a better heat treat I'm told. People say ESEE has the better warranty but really Ka-Bar will replace the knife if you break it, short of intentionally breaking it.

The ESEE 3 and BK16 aren't exactly in the same category though. The ESEE 4 is about the same size as a BK16, and the ESEE 3 has about an inch shorter blade.

If you already have a nice 4.5" blade then I'd say get the ESEE 3, little smaller and easier to EDC if you want to.

I really like ESEE and think they are all worth their money, but so is the bk16. I would get the ESEE though. Great company, great warranty, and they really know how to make a 1095 blade.

I've got the ESEE.
And it's just awesome!
It feels just like really goof quality.
But the steel can rust!
If you wiping away the water, It won't
Good Luck with your choice!

Have an ESEE 3 mil used to have a BK16. I sold the Becker because the sheath wasnt as good, the fit and finish of the knife was up to that of the ESEE, and Rowen does 1095 better than anyone and I will say in my eyes that inculdes Ka-bar.

I personally love both knives but seeing as how you already have a 4.5" blade on a knife it might make more sense to get the Esee and better round out your collection.

ESEE for sure! I have both ESEE-3 and 3mil and OKC RAT-3 and will never give up either. Ill sell a kidny if i need the cash.
