ESEE-3 vs H.E.S.T

I have seen a lot of threads where people ask:

"Which one should I get, ESEE-3 or H.E.S.T?"

I can't answer that question for anybody, my answer would be, get both!

And I would really mean it. These two knives are very different, while at the

same time being very similar.

I am hoping these pictures will show very clearly, exactly what I mean:

Holy crap. I had no real idea just how much thicker the HEST is than the 3. BTW, nice pics.

The HEST seems a little thicker....


On the ESEE site it says the HEST is .188

The site says the ESEE 4 is 3/16 which is .1875


By feel the HEST seems slightly thicker than the 4...
 
Great comparison pics of the 2. That really is a question that get's asked frequently on the forum, "ESEE 3 or HEST?".
 
Ha ha! I'm with you. I have both and I constantly go back and forth to which one I like better. I think it depends on what mood I'm in.
 
I chose the HEST over the ESEE 3 but I think I'll go for an ESEE 4 before getting a 3......or maybe a Junglas.......or maybe a 6........or maybe the 3........:D

The pictures illustrate the differences VERY well. After seeing this a person can ask themselves what THEIR intended use will be.

I now seriously hate you mate. I like 'beefy' knives with the 4 as thin as i want to go, for the sake of my bank acount i thought the hest was a tad bit thinner...........

I'm just one of many enablers around here!
 
Now you're sending me over the edge, I've been wanting the hest for a while now, but I've bought way to many knives in the last month, none of which were ESEE's (shame on me I know).. But now I'm seriously considering selling some Pumas and buying ESEE's .. they keep growing on me like my Glock's.. they function, are built like tanks,do the job well and keep doing it..

You're killing me here..

hey thanks alot for posting this! i almost made a thread asking what the sizes are of the hest and rc-3. wish i could get both but i think im going to settle with the hest.
