ESEE-3 w/ ESEE-4 width

Having used both my 3 and 4 for a short while, I am really liking the 3 more for the basic duties I have on daily basis. However, the extra width of the 4 fits my hand a bit better. Has anyone modified a 3 with liners to match the width of the 4? Or is there a better way to accomplish this? If it comes down to me constructing some liners and using 4 hardware to fit I can probably get it done, but it won't be pretty and I don't have a whole bunch of spare time. Any thoughts appreciated. BTW, I currently have a 3-mil (canvas micarta) and a 4DT(canvas micarta also) but am currently considering picking up a 3 w/ orange G-10 handles, if that matters at all.

I switched the handles between my 3 and 4 without a problem.

The issue he's having isn't whether or not the handle scales will match the holes or outline, what he wants is for the overall thickness of the ESEE-3 with scales, to be the same as an ESEE-4 with scales.

What kind of tools do you have on hand? Honestly, if you're willing to put the time into it, I can tell you how to make your scales thicker with the addition of liner with nothing more than a pair of good scissors, hand files or a basic sander, a couple of spring clamps, some sand paper, a drill, and some 5-10 second insta-cure (which can be found at lots of hobby stores. The kind I use a lot looks like this and I get it from Hobbytown USA.

I do like that the 4 is a little thicker than the 3...but, I like the 3 sheath as it is and mine could only stand to be made a little thicker without needing a new sheath. The molded plastic sheaths are a good bit quieter that the kydex sheaths. Wish I had a plastic sheath for the 4
