esee 4 as a survival/woods knife

It works well for a woods knife. I would recommend it to anyone, and the warranty is a definite plus.

A 4-5" blade is quite sufficient for camp and bushcraft. Processing wood is a whole different matter.

Yes.

Its quite a tough blade. You can beat the hell out of it and it keeps wanting more.

Plus the 1095 is just a joy to sharpen and use. One of my favorite steels for sure.

I would never feel under-knifed with my ESEE-4. Definitely one of my favorites for sure.

I have one and love it. Easy to sharpen and holds its edge well. It's a great knife for outdoor use. If you need to process a lot of wood I'd get an ax or saw, but if you want an all around camp knife, the ESEE-4 is just about perfect.

Been my favorite for the last 2 years. Has performed all bush duties very well.

No......you will die of exposure/dehydration/starvation unless you carry a Fallkniven. :D ;)

Really It should do fine. Not too big, not too small. I just wish ESEE didn't put a choil on the 4 or the 3.

I use mine in the woods and have no doubt in my mind it will get me through anything. BUT I still carry my ESEE-6 in case I need a heavier chopper/don't want to spend 1/2 an hour hacking at a 6" tree.

I use an ESEE-3 mil. no complaints I would imagine the 4" model is 1" the better of the one I own.

Really a great all around blade for me. I carry it anytime I'm going to be playing at survival skills. The 1095 continues to impress me. It holds its edge pretty well and is not difficult to touch up or maintain.

U can't go wrong with an ESEE 4.
I prefer a smaller blade, so I usually carry the ESEE 3, but that's a personal choice. If size matches ur needs, u will probably find urself sticking to it for a very long time.

Can't go wrong with the 4. I just wish they made a "Lite" version that was as thin as the 3.
