Hey BF Members,

I know of a that there was a thread about a year ago on this subject, but has anyone heard anything more current. An online dealer is advertising the Izula SS coming soon but no date. I am anxiously waiting for the ESEE 4 in stainless. :eagerness::eagerness:

Thanks!

I'm begining to think that I might prefer 440C to 1095 when it comes to a general use knife. I have no doubt that ESEE can get the heat treat right on this blade steel. While 440C isn't a high speed steel it should prove to be ideal for a fixed blade knife seeing as it isn't too terribly hard yet still wear resistant enough to have decent edge retention and not to mention it's pretty resistant to corrosion.
I'll be curious to see how these compare to the Entrek fixed blades that are also in 440C.

I have heard a lot of good things about entrek fixed blades.

Entrek does a fantastic job with 440C. I have a Javelina and a Companion and I wouldn't hesitate to use either for any sort of cutting task. The Javelina in particular is a very nice all-purpose blade shape that would be well-suited as a game, backpacking or just general use fixed blade. If ESEE can get the heat treat right (and there's no reason to suspect they won't) then they could have a real winner on their hands. Folks love to try the latest and greatest steels but there's really not a lot of uses for a knife I can think of that can't be done very well with 440C.

It's interesting to contrast Entrek to ESEE because Ennis tends to makes handles for smaller hands and ESEE makes handles for giants. Something for everyone I suppose.

My online vendor got back too me and said that he has no word on the ESEE in 440C, he believes it will be a few months (only his guess-timate) and he has no idea of the pricing. I have a feeling that the ESEE in stainless will cost a pretty penny.

Knowing the quality work that goes into the ESSE products and their unconditional guarantee on their products, Im sure that it will be a very close race, of course everyone will have their favorite design.

I am partial to ESEE for their quality, functionality and very competitive pricing. I also believe that for a knife company to have a guarantee like ESSE, they have to produce quality products, IMHO.

Did you really just say that esee makes handles for Giants are you serious buddy have you not owned the smaller versions 4 and down from esee just curious because that comment is a bit misleading two people that might be reading it. Why because it's just not true a lot of people with large hands do not like the esee 4 and down because the handle is too small

Hey Plumb, this thread is 6 years old. I doubt most would have even seen his comment until now.

The guy your going after hasn’t been seen since June. This thread is 6 years old, so Esee more than likely has made many changes to their lineup since then. I like glancing through old threads here and there myself to see how things have changed over the years, but they sometimes don’t last very long if reopened.
