ESEE-4 Pack/Kit Suggestion

Hello All,

I'm trying to figure out a better way to carry my new ESEE-4. A little background on what I normally do, and why it's not adequate anymore...

I used to carry a smaller neck knife in the bush primarily. Izula, Murray Carter, etc. It carried easily, and was unobtrusive on a belt or anything else. It worked well because I like carrying my hatchet on my belt, so there wasn't room on my strong hand side for a knife and a hatchet anyways.

Now that I have the 4, I want to set up a PSK around the knife (i'm talking to you, Texas Tony Dobbs), as well as figure out an ideal way to carry.

Since there is no room on my belt on the strong hand side, I'm considering either a drop leg sheath or a baldric set up. Either of those would work, but what else would you recommend?

The PSK around my 4 will have PSK sized implements for fire making, shelter, water procurement, food, signaling. Altoid tin sized. Maybe a little breathing room for some other small essentials.

Suggestions?

Thanks,

JGON

You can drop leg the 4 using the molle back. I haven't tried it yet, but it is set up to be used like that. As far as the tin, if you make a couple ranger bands out of a big enough tube you can just rubber it on to the sheath and I don't think you will have problems with it going anywhere.

You could also consider moving the knife on your belt to a little further back or forward. Right behind the kidney area will keep it on your strong side and clear of your hatchet. It all comes to what is comfortable and functional to you personally, however.

Here is my RC-4 with the molle back and the 5/6 pouch.

You can drop leg the molle back as stated above.

A great drop leg set up for a kit that would fit the Izula would be the EOD/E&E drop leg pouch from High Speed Gear Inc. It's the perfect size for a good size kit and to keep the Izula inside. All of their stuff is top quality and made in the US. Another pouch is the Tactical Tailor E&E pouch. Here's some pics of a kit I made out one and my Izula fits right inside it. The only thing though is it doesn't come in a drop leg format, but it's a GREAT pouch!

What a nice kit! Due to me not being able to send you a PM (yet), I would like to ask you some questions regarding this awesome project:

- What is this metal-thingy with the paracord on it between the two knives?

- How did you attach the 5/6 pouch to the sheath with the molle-system on its back? which screws/holes were used for what?

- What is in your Altoids-kit in detail?

- Are you using a ranger band to keep the FireKit in place? Kinda hard to see on the pics ;)

- How do you like your system? Anything to improve?

A big  from me for the look of the kit and the thoughts behind it :)

I took my factory 4 sheath added the molle backing & then added the molle clips to the front side and used the clips to hold 2 maxpedition pouches .
