Ok, I went out and got 220, 320 and 400 grit sandpaper and on a mousepad
started to convex the grind on my semi-serrated E-4. It was dull to began with and I got an edge on it. It wouldn't shave so much as scrape up dead skin and hair and wouldn't cut paper for s#it. So with a Sharpie I laid out a wider edge angle and laid it back to 1/8th which is just over the top of the serrations and then stropped it. I cut a grapefruit with it and it seemed to just fall through the meaty part like a very sharp wedge but still doesn't shave like a razor or slice paper worth a crap unless I hit the edge just right.

Is this to be expected with a too wide a blade?

Does anyone do "blade thinning" like on a belt sander or is more expensive than buying a thinner knife. I really like this #4 and want to marry it.
