Two weeks ago I had a large Ash taken down that had been dead for a few years. So, it was basicically "seasoned on the hoof". What better way to enhance the Thanksgiving mood than a fire in the fireplace. I needed some smaller pieces to get the fire started. So.......

Now with a nice fire roaring, dinner is ready. Time for my ESEE 4 to take up its duty as turkey slicer. After a thorough cleaning, and no edge touch up, it commenced to slicing.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and got to spend time with loved ones.

TAGannon,

Nice work man. Thanks for the pics. Out of curiosity, how does the blade perform now without the coating on it? I have my Izy stripped but it's been "in the works" since that time and so I haven't been able to compare before and after. Even when I do get to use it I forget how it felt cutting before hand by now. Hope you had a happy turkey day.

God bless,
Adam

Mmmm, makes me want a stripped and patinated 4. :D

Yeah, I agree, BUT Jeff says that they are going to make a stainless version of some of their knives in the near future. I really wish to see a natural steel (polished etc.) with orange G-10 scales, like on the TAGannon's photos. That would be a topseller for sure!!!

Hey Adam,
Glad you like it. I like the idea of not having a coating that could even remotely flake off into food. Especially after flipping from "Wood Splitter to Carver. I also like the color of steel. Seems more natural to me. I love the coating Rowen puts on and think it is the best out there, but, on my IZULA and this 4, it just warms my heart even more when I see them with that nice natural patina. I did nothing to treat it like some of the other guys on the Patina Gallery Thread. Some of those treatments actually protect the blade. After slicing the turkey and some other stuff, I have the beginnings of staining, which in the long run, will protect the blade. If I was going to be spending time in the wet woods, I'd take a coated blade.

Glad to see your Thanksgiving went well dude!

Awesome looking blade, I agree that a polished blade with orange handles would be a wallet killer!

I never thought about it before, thanks. Even small flecks of paint or other coatings can leave chemicals that build up over time.

Love the way the orange g10 and the stripped blade looks.

Buon provecho!
