Hey all, I have a question for you, let me explain. I recently added an Esee-4 to my fixed blade collection, and due to the blade material (1095 steel) I went about to oil the blade for rust prevention. After doing so however, I noticed that the oil bled into the micarta handles discoloring them. Will this effect the micarta handles negatively ? I hope not, because this is a really great blade.

it shouldn't have any effect other than making them a little more slick, but I'm no expert. aslo the majority of the blade is coated so unles you strip it orthe steel shows though wear there no neeto to oil anyting other than then edge and the logo.

Discoloration prob won't ever come off but it's not going to make it fall apart or anything. For future note, a light coat on just the the edge, where the black coating doesn't cover, is all you need.

That makes perfect sense. Guess I wasn't thinking about the fact that the blade is coated.

won't affect them at all, other then maybe the color but if you're using the blade that doesn't matter much:D

I plan on never using it, as with most of my knifes, both fixed and folders, I'm mostly a collector. I realize to not use them is a bit goofy, but it's something that I enjoy greatly.
