So I ordered an RC-4 from the knife collection and I had a question. On the website it shows the RC-4 with the RAT emblem on the blade adn shows RC-4 on it also. WHen I got the knife today it just has the ESEE-4 and the ESEE emblem on it. Now I know its the same knife, But are there any differences.

Oh yeah. The knife connection is by far the best place I have every done business with. No tax, No Shipping fees, and showed up at my door in 2 days. Highly recommend them!!!

No differences except that logo and the "esee 4" label as opposed to "rc-4" in front of the handle. You are gtg :D

ENJOY!

As far as I know the only difference is the markings.

Yep, that really is it. They changed over to the new logo I believe just this year, so at least you know you have a newer version of that knife.

Also - As long as it reads "ROWEN" on the blade your all set.

OK thanks guys. I love it so far. I cant wait to get out and use it. I had a hard time trying to decide between the 3 and the 4. I had a Rat 3 in d2 before and I loved it. Used it all the time. But I hated the d2. Very hard to sharpen out in the middle of nowhere. (at least thats what I found). And I was really contemplating getting the esee 3 over the 4 but Im glad that I got the 4. I have big hands and it fits perfect. Im sure I will get the 3 sooner or later, but for not Im very happy with the 4. And I think I have the perfect combo now for hunting, camping and whateverelse. The Izula and the 4.
Thanks for all the advice and info guys.

I have the same combo, the Izula an ESEE-4. They are with me when I hike and are an awesome pairing. I thought about the RC-6 and RC-3 combo or the RC-6 and HEST but, in the end, the combined weight reduction is what tipped the scales for me.

Good luck.

uhhh, unless i'm mistaken, the ESEE 3 and 4, and the Rat Cutlery 3 and 4 have the same size handles. and the handles on the 5 and 6 are the same size, but the 5 has the divot for use as a firebow spindle.

it's the Ontario made Rats that have the smaller handles. so when you order an ESSE (or RC) 3 it will have the same size handle as the 4 you have now.

for sharpening D2, a DMT or other diamond sharpener probably would have helped.

it's an old problem that vendors don't update catalog or website pics to accurately show product(s).

The two ESEE knives I have where made when the company was still Rat Cutlery. Same knives, just a different logo.

Actually in my experience the ESEE marked versions will make you run faster and jump higher. But as far as the knife goes they are identical.
