Anyone that has any experience with the stainless esees, please fill me in

Ordered a 440c izula, hoping I didn't make the wrong decision

I asked the same a while back... didn't receive much info. I'm curious too! Anyone?

You didn't make a mistake. Beat it up and if there is a problem those Alabama boys will make it good.

I bought one a few months ago and am very happy with my Izula 440C, great knife; I believe you will be greatly pleased with yours.

Hey Swampdog, how does it compare to the 1095? I can imagine the answer generally, but I'd rather hear it from an experienced user. Thanks...

I'm partial to the 1095 (I have the Izula II) because of the ease of sharpening, I used it this past hunting season to field dress and quarter up a deer and a wild hog. I plan to strip the paint off of it before next hunting season to make it even easier to cut through game meat. I keep the Izula II in my field dressing kit with my hunting equipment.

I bought the 440C Izula because I live around water and have to deal with high humidity most of the time here in Florida. ESEE does not warranty the 440C the same as the 1095, something to consider if someone plans "to beat it up."

The Izula design fits my hand like it's an extension of my index finger; and the excellent sheath makes it easy to carry.

I also own a Candiru and ESEE-3, so I guess you can say I'm partial to ESEE knives.

Thanks Swampdog, I get the index finger grip and skinning--that's important; I've always liked ESEE, but I've only owned the BK14 (ESEE's colab with Becker). I'm typically partial to carbon steel, and stripped at that--so I agree with your intent to strip the Izzy II. I'm curious about their 440c because I do lots of food prep around the fire and in the kitchen, and thought the stainless option was worth considering. That it doesn't carry the same warranty does not bother me too much; typically, you really have to be trying to break a knife that stout to have it fail. I'm not that motivated... ;)

My last concern is edge retention; my guess is that it is considerably better than 1095. Since I do not have a problem sharpening, I don't mind; however, it edge retention is only marginal over 1095 (maybe due to hardness levels on the 440c), then my preference would be to stick with tried and true 1095.

Generally, I've moved one in terms of the fixed blades I carry, but I've always had an itch for ESEE, and I just might have to get one.
