Ok so, I have to ask a favor from somebody here. I know one of you has these two knives lying around. I need to know the depth of the 5's slabs vs the 6's. I'm currently trying to have a leather lined kydex sheath made for my ESEE6. I have ESEE5 handle slabs on the 6 so the width is not standard. I'm halfway around the world on the USNS Mercy hospital ship right now off the coast of Vietnam. Needless to say I cannot measure them and I need to get the specs to the sheath-maker. He has a 6 on hand for reference, but it has the standard handle. Make any sense? Thank you so much!

cheers,
-Steven

I thought the thickness was the same, the only difference is the thickness of the blade...

sorry guys, just a clarifying point on the above...are we saying that the slabs are interchangeable for the blades and the sheaths?

Same program runs the 5's and 6's (with exception of the bow drill divot on 5). So slabs are identical is dimensions and hole placement. You may get a very slight difference in fit though when moving scales from one knife to another simply because from one run to another on slabs there can be very slight changes on machining set up, tooling, etc. I am talking a few thousandths here but you can feel it when you put a mismatched set on another knife. That is the primary reason we don't sell extra slabs out of the shop. They won't fit perfectly to the knife. :)
