Well, when the famous photo of the 5 with Glenlivet is your desktop photo, staring at you all day, they this is bound to happen. After convexing my edge like Unit, I knew it was just a matter of time before I did the handle.

Yesterday I went to a local hardware store and bought two round files. Started out with the smaller one, but after one groove, decided larger was for me. Then, I rounded the edges and sanded. I may round them more, I don't have huge hands and just doing what I did makes the handle fit sooooo much better and I feel I have more control cutting limes for my Corona.

Really like what u did! I just got my 5 yesterday and that mod actually looks really cool and very comfortable! Might have to invest in some files!!

That looks pretty nice, I guess you are still working on the .45 idea. I had an idea for this that may or may not work if you are interested in trying? I thought about removing the slab and drilling out a slight hollow behind the divot and epoxying a small rare earth magnet...can you guess where I am going yet...then after you cut your .45 shell down, glue another magnet inside of it (make sure you line up the polarity). It may or may not hold in place under impact...just have to try and see?

I scrapped the idea because my handle now looks like hell. I have stained it with various agents (lubricants, sap, hand sweat, blood, you-name-it) I figure these stains are my mojo...but you might want to give the magnets a try. If you do, let me know how it works out!

Ken,

I'm no scientiferologist, but I can't recall if brass is magnetic. Part of me wants to say no. If only I had a magnet. I can make... er... get empty casings easy enough. I know that cheap Russian wolf ammo is magnetic since they use steel casings. But I don't know if you'd really want one of those for "mojo."

God bless,
Adam

Brass is not magnetic. That is why I suggest gluing a magnet in the casing too. Just gotta line up the polarity, otherwise the divot will repell the mojo;)

Ken,

It's amazing what a person will say when they don't read your whole post. Sorry about that man.

It would be hilarious to watch him try and install with reverse polarity!

God bless,
Adam

Very nice, looks good

I must admit that the shot of the 5 with the Glenvilet was something (insert drooling smilies)

Do you actually think I would video myself doing that? I'd edit that out and then post it with the polarity correct.:D

What I want to do want to try, is Ken's (Unit) golf ball test. I've never posted a video and think that would be a perfect first attempt.

I find it to be wildly fun and a great test of both edge and user skills. Have fun and send me a link to the video!

In fact that golf ball test is SOOO much fun, I will post up a couple more videos for those interested:

My attempts (start watching at 4 minutes in):

And here are some pros doing it at a competition I helped out with...man was that fun!:

I'm not familiar with posting video's so, when the time comes, I'll be looking to you for guidance.
Thanks,
Tom

Ken,

That second vid you posted varies between awesome and hilarious. AMAZING!

Thanks, that event was a hoot! If you have never been to a BladeSports cut, definitely look into it...those guys have crazy skills, and amazing blades (many make their own). One cutter took out a vertical 2x4 (I was timer for the event officiating) in ~2 seconds and exactly 3 chops!

(Sorry this is off topic, but it is just too fun to not share.)

Here's 2 RC4s I did

And an RTAK II I textured and darkened
esee006-1.jpg

Needless to say I prefer a more random pattern, but the 5 with the Scotch was also my inspiration.
