Hi all!

I am going to be selling my user RC-5.

It is one of the older models with the RAT logos and the compartment sheath.

Do these things add any value to the knife?

For those familiar with the exchange forum, what does a user RC-5 usually bring?

Thanks

I know I favor the Eagle Industries sheath moreso than anything else ESEE put out... you might have luck with that one.

some people will wantthe early sheath, some people will want the current one and some won't care and will want an aftermarket rig. not easy to predict that.

logos don't matter IMHO, the knife os the same with either the old or new logos.

condition will play some role in the value, but probably not a huge one since it's a knife intended for rough use and if there's any significant damage other than wear and tear to the knife the warranty will cover it. that doesn't include mods, normal use or cosmetic things like the finish.

but in the end, the value is only whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

ESEE's aren't Busse's. They don't really have any "collector" value. I'd say knock $15-20 off of the new price and see if it moves. Or, alternatively, just fleabay it and see what it brings.

I bought a like new RC-5 and Rat Pack kit with the assessories on the exchange here for $200 shipped. There have been at least 2 like new older RC-5's with the older logo sold on BF in the last month in the $145 shipped range. I would consider all ESEE knives user grade as they really are'nt manufactured as limited availability collectables like the Busse family knives. Used knives would bring something less but it depends on condition and how much someone wants your knife.

it is only worth what some one will pay ,to me it is worth no more or no less than a new 5 .... if used less... just 1095 steel

I didn't mean that there would be any collector value. Just the fact that alot of people liked the eagle industries sheath and they are (I assume) harder to come by now.

Anyway thanks for the input guys, looks like my best bet is fleabay
