So I got my esee 5 with molle back but am still waiting on the pouch for the front. I looked at as many pictures as a I could online so I know I put the sheath and molle back together correctly. Once the pack comes in it will go with the the four retention screws that are showing.

The kit only came with four screws so there are two more holes in the sheath that need to get attached to the molle back as well as the two bottom holes. I was going to use 550cord to cover the bottom of the sheath but I couldn't figure a good way to do it since the molle back doesn't follow the contour of the sheath.

Is this how the sheath is supposed to line up with the molle back? Has anyone figured out a good way to wrap 550 cord with the curve of the sheath and being offset from the molle back?

Take a pic of the whole thing, hard to see what's going on there. 4 screws should be all it takes.

Diz's pics....

Four screws will hold it in place, even two screws will keep it in place. It looks like yours did the same thing. I just figured the bottom part of the sheath could hold around 25ft of cord without being bulky.

Is the bottom of the sheath supposed to be different than the bottom of the molle back? I figured I would cover it up with 550 cord but since they are offset and the sheath is curved; I am finding it difficult to keep the cordage from slipping off the sheath unless I put knots all over it.

Looks like you have it on right. The same back fits the 5 and 6 sheaths, which are much different so all the holes won’t line up or be attached to the molle back. It’s intended to be attached with 4 screws in the 4 holes that line up. The bottom holes aren’t supposed to be attached nor the 2 remaining holes in the middle. It comes with 4 screws because that’s all you need to attach it per the design.

The back is the same for the 5 and 6. I'm guessing that's where the extra length comes from. Once you get the pouch on, there isn't going to be much room to wrap cord, so I wouldn't worry about it much. Best way I've found to take extra cord on that setup is to just make a small wrap of it and tie or clip it on.

Oh and congrats on the 5, it oughta see good use in AK. You can baton it through a moose pelvis. :D
