This knife lives up too what all you here that own one said it is. I bought mine from Kife Connection. With Green handle and Black Blade. My new Truck knife. This knife feels great in my hand. One solid built knife. Thanks Guys.

yea, prior to the ESEE5, i only had one knife that i ever referred to as "a tank" and that was my Carbon V Cold Steel Recon Tanto. it's difficult to pick a favorite, between the two, but i have no doubt the ESEE5 is a stronger knife.

though I used to be an esee hater until i got the AMAZING junglas, Id prefer to have 2 beckers than an esee 5. Though I bet esee5 is a monster :O

The difference between them (the BK2 and ESEE 5) from a comparative point of view is one of ergonomics. If the ESEE's handle is more comfortable for you, it's worth much more than the Becker and vice versa. Sounds like it fits the OP pretty well.

The RC-5 (ESEE-5's original model!) initially came with a neat sheath. It also has that divit in the handle to use as a top bearing for a bow-style fire drill. I just carry a ferrocerrium 'fire steel' rod. It's Micarta grips are smaller - thinner.

The aftermarket Micarta grips that came with my BK-2 are thicker - and look/feel unfinished. The BK-2 slices & chops a bit easier - the slicker finish helps. The RC-5/ESEE-5 seems more refined. The BK-2 was bought for a 'Bug Out Bag'. Tough choice as to which I'd keep, if I could have only one. Naw, it'd be the RC-5!

Ive had the ESEE 5 for about 6 months so far and havent found a job it cant complete yet. Ive pretty much put it through the ringer and still as good as it was outta the box. Id trust this knife with my life anyday.

Id go withe the ESEE-5 too, its just nicer IMO

I have wanted a BK2 for such a long time and i finally ordered it 3 days ago. PHSYCHED!!!!!!

I like the ESEE 5 but when it comes to comparing to other things ounce for ounce is where it comes up short, literally...the Buck Hoodlum and CS Trailmasters both come in at about the same weight but are bigger knives.

I'll take the longer blade for the same weight anytime.

Both are made by Soild USA Knife Company, I lean towardss the ESEE5 & my Son has the BK2 w/micarta . after adding the Micarta scales to the BK2 your at the price of the ESEE5 so really it is a moot point..both great blades :D
