Got a RAT ESEE marked 5 in a trade today. I've owned several of the Ontario RAT collaborations, a couple RC3's, an RC4 and an RC6. I also got to check out one of the new Junglas, and would like to pick one up. I only got to check the 5 out in the car, but it appears to be a great knife. The handle is a great size for my giant bear paws. I would like to get someone to strip the blade coating off, but I really like the blade. I am looking forward to getting it out this weekend to do some work in the woods/field.

Buy a 89 cent scotchbrite pad and a 4 dollar jug of the cheapest gel stripper at the hardware store. Take the scales off, liberally apply the gel stripper with a cotton ball, forget about it for ten minutes and come back. Use a razor blade to scrape all the gooey crap off the blade and the scotchbrite pad to pick up any risidual stuff remaining on the blade. From start to finish it's 15 minutes of time and 5 bucks. Very reasonable DIY project.

Congrats !
if your stripping it , Leave the Scales on and the coating in the handle area for a rust free zone . IMO
buy stripper at local home depot , put tape over RC5 logo and same on opposite side, cover in stripper both side hang from wire by pommel..... wait 10-15 minutes and paint comes off easily with razor blade . no problem I have stripped a 3/4/6 but I leave coating under scales to keep rust at bay FYI
