Hello all,

Recently picked up an ESEE 6 thinking it would be a good companion to my RAT cutlery RC5 and really look forward to putting through its paces. So far though, I like it. Came with a very sharp factory edge and some rather unique square tip serrations on the bottom 1" of the blade where it meets the handle. Typical RAT/ESEE thick, quality micarta handle. Good vegetable cutter and chops well, at least on small, light, green limbs. Haven't had a chance to really beat on it though. One thing I don't like is the sheath. It's Kydex, which is fine, but the only way to attach it is to paracord it to something or use MOLLE locks. As a civilian who wears a thick belt, I really dislike the Molle system and wish it had come with a Tek Lok instead. In all other respects I have to say this is a great knife, at least in my initial impression. It does claim in its "manual" that the knife is 1095 so it will rust if not properly cared for. On the other hand, so are TOPS and many other high quality knives that I own, so don't let that deter you. I'll keep you all updated as I test it more. And if anyone has any suggestions regarding the sheath they're much appreciated.

you can get either the clip plate or molle back for easier belt carry. i have the clip plate on mine and its great.

Yup--just get the belt clip or MOLLE back for it and you're all set.

You can also get a Tek lock and put on it. Thats what I have on mine. Mine came with the clip plate but I didnt care much for it so I put the Tek lock on it and like it much better.

fyi, the sheath is injection molded plastic, not kydex. I think a custom kydex sheath would probably make you like it more.

Buckles,
You are correct sir. On a positive note with a little BF&I (Brute, Force and Ignorance) I did manage to get the Molle clips to lock around my belt. It just rides a little higher than I'd like. But hey, it's a great knife.

Call me a weirdo (you won't be the first) but I prefer the plastic sheaths to the kydex ones. Less brittle in cold weather, which happens often here.

Hey, this may be unconventional but if you really dislike the sheath, you can make your own. On many websites they have kits or you could start from scratch. That way you could make it more specific to your needs. Hope it helps.

I use my ESEE-6 with a Survival Sheath Systems 6" and couldn't be happier. I ordered my ESEE-6 knife only as I already had the Survival Sheath.
