THIS IS MY FIRST ATTEMPT AT A REVIEW SO, WE'LL SEE HOW IT GOES!

I ordered a molle back last week for my ESEE-6, it really seems like a no brainer because the carry options out of the bag, (molle locks), don't offer a whole lot of options.

I was hesitant to get the molle back because to me the price seemed a little high, you can get the molle back for the 3/4 for 20$, but the one for the 6 will cost you about 45$ To me that seemed like a large jump, more than double.

Any way, having received the product, I think it is worth the $ and really offers a lot of carry options that you can't get any other way. It turns the molded plastic sheath into something that, if you were to get from a custom sheath maker would cost you quite a bit more $.

So here we go..

Here is what it looks like with the knife in it, most people have seen this before, and know that it is not purple like you see in the picture, not sure why it came out like that but it is indeed black in reality..

As you can see it comes with everything you need to attach it, and comes with paracord for the piece of material that comes over the pommel to make it jump proof. I will not be jumping out of a plane with it, however there is not doubt in my mind that if I ever did, it would stay put. Here is a picture with the flap over the pommel making it jump ready:

The top and bottom of the sheath come apart so that if you wanted to put the knife on a bag for instance you could remove the top part and just use the bottom of the molle back to secure it to a pack or whatever you wanted:

As you can see there are many, many options with this piece of gear. Here is another picture or two:

Another thing that I did not realize right away is that there is a belt loop integrated into the top of the molle back. It is large enough to fit any belt:

I am very happy with my purchase now that I have had the piece in hand. It opens up a world of carry options that just did not exist without it. This is what a sheath setup should be. ESEE has really done it with this product. Their attention to detail is matched by no other knife company that I know of. Their following is well deserved.

If you are on the fence about purchasing this product, I would highly recommend that you pull the trigger on this one. At first it may seem like a lot of $, but it is well worth it. This is a great product!!

Good review...I finally know how the two peices are held together!

Great Review Eloreno I picked up two,one for the Rc-4 and ESEE 6 Thanks again for the Pics too!

nice review. thanks! i just got mine last friday and rigged it up with my lite machete sheath. definitely high quality and very versatile like you mentioned.

I know this thread is old,but I'd like to say: it got me off the fence! regarding the MOLLE back sheath option.

But I have a question: Just what kind is that fine-looking little knife,in your pictures, please?

Glad I could help. :D

The little knife is a Bark River Micro Tusk. It is an excellent knife.

It was made once and never to be made again. If you look around you can

still find it.

The jump flap is also handy if you are traveling through thick brush/vines that like to 'grab' the protruding knife handle on the wearer's side. The plastic loops on the top of the MOLLE back can be used as 'extender' rings for a drop strap for those guys that like to carry the rig lower on the leg. For that reason we included an extra loop to replace the 3" loop that is removed when you take the two halves apart. By putting the extra loop on when you tkae the top hal off you still have the extender ring capability. Hope I didn't muddy the waters there:) Mike

As the OP said, the color is indeed black but for some reason a lot of cameras cause it to come out with a purple look. Again, another reason that you never want black if you're gonna use any piece of gear for escape/evasion purposes - always go with earth tones. Black has a very good IR reflectivity and stands out like a sore thumb with some night vision. Also, black is not a color that is found in nature, unless it is charred wood from a forest fire. With that said, black is our most popular color.

Thanks for a great review and then the color clarification. It looks maroon in the pics. I have been on the fence about getting one, but I think after reading that I will. The $60 combo deal of the back and the front pouch is hard to pass up. As soon as I recover from my purchase of the ESEE 4 (a great purchase damn nice knife) I think the ESEE 6 molle back and front pouch are next. The adiction continues. Damn you ESEE.

Who the hell's this know-it-all R.A.T. guy? Been posting all over this forum like he does this stuff for a living or something.
