The Buck 124 is not what most would call a “survival knife” in the currently popular definition. It’s more of a traditional outdoor Bowie if I had to designate a category for it. Maybe more of a camp knife than one explicitly for survival
The ESEE-6 on the other hand is purpose built to be a survival knife. The steel chosen, the blade shape and grind, the handle material, all of it is specifically chosen to make a solid tool that can be used for a variety of outdoor tasks.
While the buck is definitely a solidly built knife that is of a classic design, I really don’t see it as a “survival knife”.
