I'm 1 bit away from completing my ESEE-6 Knife Project, but I couldn't wait to start a thread here for it.

I'm just waiting on the Green ESEE Fire Kit to come in and she'll be done (for now).
The inspiration for this piece came from TexasTonyDobbs' own ESEE-6 Sheath/Fire Loop Combo.
Based on Tony's Fire Steel Loop, I've added a notch to mine in order to create a place to cinch the lanyard.

And a big-big thanks to Jeff at Hard Corps Customs who took my drawing and brought it to life & had it to me in 2 days. :D

Knife: ESEE-6 Plain Blade
Sheath: ESEE MOLLE Back
Pouch: ESEE Pouch
Firesteel Loop: Kydex
Ferro Rod: ESEE Fire Kit

I've stuffed this tin to the gills just go see how much I could fit in it.
I will whittle it down to just the basics next (signaling, fire, H20, etc...).
When I packed the baggy with most of the bits, I surrounded the 1 qt
water bag on either side with protective packs to keep it from getting
punctured. I took the pills and pushed them to one end of their packets
and curled them up. I cut about 1.5cm off the candle. The 3' of duct tape
is slid behind the tin in the pouch.

Contents:
  • 1 qt water bag
  • 4 H20 tablets
  • 8 strike anywhere matches
  • 1 trick birthday candle
  • razor blade
  • 2 fishing hooks w/starter lines
  • P-51 can opener
  • Bobby pin
  • TOPS Whistle
  • Button Compass
  • Fresnel Lense
  • Dog Tag Signal Mirror
  • 3'X1' tin foil
  • 3'X2" duct tape
  • 2 ranger bands
  • antibacterial ointment
  • alcohol wipe
  • aspirin/allergy/diarrhea pills
  • ESEE Survival Tips Card

:)

Almosssst there...

My custom made Kydex Firesteel Loop by Jeff @ Hard Corps Customs.
I had my loop created with a custom notch to act as a place holder where
I could cinch the lanyard of my ferro rod under. Makes for a nice tight fit.
He does nice work and had it out to me literally in a couple of days after I
sent him a drawing of what I wanted and he hit the nail right on the head.
The 2nd Kydex bit in the picture is a Bic Loop.

All I need is my ESEE Fire Kit to be 100%.

Thanks to TexasTonyDobbs for he inspiration for this project and to Jeff for making it happen.

It was about 1:00am. I couldn't sleep, so I got up and went to my back deck.
I grabbed a stick I found out back and spent about an hour and a half whittling.
I took my time to learn the intricacies of my knife. I got out a lot of stress and
created a pile of tinder about 1 square foot in area and about 3 inches high. Felt good.
I know it's going to take practice, but I'm starting to get a "feel" for my knife.
I'm starting to learn what I have to do to get it to do what I want.

I'm also learning how wood is going to react to a pass of my blade depending on it's
grain, texture, the amount of force I put behind the work, the angle of the blade and
a whole host of other details I didn't know before.

I sat on my deck for 1.5 hours doing nothing but thinking and whittling and focusing
and trying to manipulate the wood to create points and curves and I made about 2
dozen prehistoric-fish-looking thingies by the time I was done.

At last, my life is complete (at least for now LOL)...

Finally got a Green ESEE Fire Kit for my ESEE-6.
It's now resting comfortably in it's custom-made Kydex loop.
And all is well in the universe tonight. I can finally exhale.

I also added a leg strap to my sheath. Made it from some of
the USGI OD strapping left over from my Hellcat Project.
A Fastex Buckle closes the deal. Enjoy the pics fellas.

Good job on the piece of kit you made centered on the esee-6! Looks like a great grab and go setup.

The ESEE 6 is on my short list of knives to buy. Fantastic job on the kit.
